Fier, Albania—About 100 people took part in a Peace Road event, bicycling and marching through the southwest Albanian city of Fier.
UPF Ambassadors for Peace joined parents and children, and other citizens of Fier, on the tour.
The May 18, 2017, event was organized by the Albanian branches of UPF together with affiliated organizations Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, Women’s Federation for World Peace, and the Collegiate Association for Research of Principles.
At the conclusion of the tour, about 200 people joined the second part of the program, which was held in a park. Mr. Myzaljen Hoxha, the chair of the Fier chapter of UPF, gave the opening address. Mr. Jacques Marion, the UPF regional secretary general for Europe, gave the main speech. The chair of UPF-Albania, Mr. Gaqo Apostoli, greeted the Fieri citizens with heartfelt words and a song.
As part of the entertainment program, several young UPF supporters who were visiting from Japan and Germany brought great joy to the audience through their singing.
A well-known Albanian singer, Ms. Mariza Ikonomi, who is also an Ambassador for Peace, closed the program joyfully with her courageous songs.
After the program, many passers-by stopped by to ask who we are or just to congratulate us.
