Oslo, Norway—The 2017 Peace Road event began with an evening program in the largest mosque in Norway.
The imam welcomed us and gave his blessings on the initiative. UPF-Norway Secretary General Steinar Murud then gave an orientation to the Peace Road, including its background and purpose.
Yossi Somer, an Israeli filmmaker, commented on his film project, which reminds us that we all come from the same root. He praised UPF founder Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon as a visionary for peace.
Yun-A Johansen from the Norwegian chapter of Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP), an organization that is affiliated with UPF, described how WFWP is promoting peace around the world and in Norway.
A Peace Road video was shown, to the inspiration of the audience. Light refreshments and conversations closed the evening. Sixteen people attended the August 24 meeting.
On Saturday, August 26, we organized our peace walk along the Aker River, which divides Oslo into east and west. We walked from the estuary through downtown Oslo and up to the river’s source, a beautiful walk of 8 kilometers (about 5 miles). A total of 29 participants joined the walk while promoting the Peace Road message through T-shirts, flags and banners.
