Pärnu, Estonia—The inspiration of an Ambassador for Peace brought together Estonian children to play football for the sake of a unified Korea.
Under the theme “Play Football, Make Peace,” UPF-Estonia, together with Ambassador for Peace Reigo Tõnsberg, organized a one-day tournament named "One Korea."
The purpose of the peace project, held on October 5, 2017, near the city of Pärnu, was to promote the peaceful reconciliation and unification of North and South Korea. The children wore T-shirts representing either North Korea, South Korea, or a unified peninsula, and on the back of the shirts were words promoting peace and unity.
A group of Korean residents of Estonia supported the unification of the Koreas by singing the famous Korean song Arirang.
As a symbol of their support and encouragement for the peaceful unification of the Korean Peninsula, the children and the Korean residents sent two footballs (“Peace” and “One Korea”) to the leaders of North and South Korea.
