Fier, Albania—The local UPF Peace Council held an event to commemorate the European Year of Cultural Heritage.
The event, which took place on March 23 in the Fier municipal cultural center, celebrated the motto of European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018: “Our Heritage: Where the Past Meets the Future.”
One of Albania’s precious cultural representatives, the archaeologist and historian Mr. Neritan Ceka, accepted the invitation to give a talk on this occasion. He recalled the time of Albanians’ origins and presented some of the nation’s most important places of antiquity.
In his welcoming speech, Mr. Myzaljen Hoxha, the chair of UPF-Fier, spoke of the UPF Peace Principles as a tool for learning the values of peace.
The moderator, Mr. Gani Rroshi, the secretary general of UPF-Albania, added to the celebratory atmosphere with his words.
During the event six persons from the Fier community received the title of Ambassador for Peace: a piano teacher, a TV and radio moderator, an artist, a writer, and two businesswomen.
The event concluded with a dance performance by young members of the Albanian chapter of the Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles (CARP), a student organization that is affiliated with UPF.
