Vlorë, Albania—The winners of an essay competition inspired by the UPF founder’s autobiography were announced at a special high-school program.
The event at Elite High School in the southwestern Albanian city of Vlorë on June 1, 2018, was organized jointly by UPF and Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU), an affiliated organization.
The event was developed with the support of Mrs. Eva Çipi, the chair of UPF for Vlorë. She emphasizes the importance of adding character education to the high school curriculum, and at the same time she insists that schoolchildren should learn about God and should get to know Him.
The program featured the reading of excerpts from the submitted essays, which took as their inspiration As a Peace-Loving Global Citizen, the autobiography of UPF founder Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon.
There were also cultural performances prepared with much devotion by the students of the school, and inspiring messages given by UPF leaders.
Rev. Gi Young Shin, a special advisor to UPF-Albania, said, “All of us must be conscious about the fact that we all have a common creator, and we must take care and invest in the growth of our spirit.”
Mr. Gani Rroshi, the secretary general of UPF-Albania, said, “We have to be grateful for everything we have in our lives, and we should consider each other as special gifts.”
It was not easy to select the winning essay, but finally the judges announced the names of three winners, as well as two who had earned honorable mention.
The first three places received certificates of recognition and some presents prepared by FFWPU-Vlorë.
