Odessa, Ukraine—A group of mostly children traveled from Kiev to Odessa as the Ukrainian contribution to the Peace Road 2018 campaign.
On July 3, they left Kiev, the national capital, and drove by bus approximately 500 kilometers (more than 310 miles), arriving the next day at the port city of Odessa on the Black Sea.
On the way to Odessa, the participants visited the Strategic Missile Forces Museum near the city of Pervomaisk. This unique military museum, a former intercontinental ballistic missile base, was founded on October 30, 2001.
The Strategic Missile Forces Museum is the only museum of its kind in Europe and the former Soviet Union. The museum reminds us of the danger that still threatens the world today.
After visiting the museum, the children and teens on the Peace Road team, who had been born after the end of the USSR and the Cold War, showed a strong desire for peace, especially in this difficult time for Ukraine.
The next day, July 4, after arriving in Odessa, the Peace Road team participated in a service project at the Odessa Zoo. They worked hard to improve the zoo environment and earned praise from zoo workers and visitors.
