Kenya-2018-07-29-Peace Road 2018 Comes to Nairobi, Kenya

Nairobi, Kenya—Peace Road 2018, sponsored by UPF-Kenya with the South Nairobi Sikh Temple, drew 1,000 participants. The July 29 event was attended by Hon. Gideon Mbuvi Sonko, the governor of Nairobi; Gen. Jeremiah Lianga, former chief of the Kenya Defense Force; Mr. Gurdip Singh Flora, chairman of the South Central Temple, and Mrs. Rattan Channa, trustee of the United Religions Initiative. Additionally, the Kenya branches of the Women’s Federation for World Peace, the Family Federation for Peace and Unification, and various youth initiatives were well represented.

The four-kilometer march was led by the Kenya Police Brass Band. Many participants sang Sikh hymns along the way. Marchers cleaned the streets as they went, and some installed plantings to beautify the roadway. According to the organizers, the event was well covered, both locally (by the Daily Nation) and internationally.
