Kinshasa, DR Congo—UPF-DR Congo sponsored Peace Road 2018, an event that saw over 700 participants walk through downtown streets to cover a distance of 1.5 kilometers, or one mile. Participants included Ambassadors for Peace, religious leaders, traditional chiefs, members of the Women’s Federation for World Peace and the Family Federation for World Peace and Unity, and many young people from Youth and Students for Peace and other youth organizations.
Before the event began, the New Hope Singers inspired the gathered crowd with songs having a peace theme. Peace Road 2018 was opened by Pastor Nguvulu, who introduced the secretary general of UPF-DR Congo, Jean Pierre Kadima, who explained the vision of UPF and of Peace Road 2018.
The colorful march included the national flag of DR-Congo and various banners related to Peace Road 2018, including one with the slogan “Peace Begins in Me and With Me.” The procession was enlivened by the participation of the marching brass band La Foi. At the conclusion of the march, participants were invited to sign the Peace Road 2018 banner.
