Munich, Germany—UPF-Munich organized a “Peace Road” bicycle tour to Muslim, Christian and Jewish houses of worship.
Altogether 31 persons—UPF supporters as well as friends and guests from different faith traditions—participated in the August 12, 2018, tour, inspired by the event motto, "Connecting the World through Peace."
The bicyclists started from the train station of the Munich suburb Ismaning and cycled to the Islamic Center of Munich, where they were welcomed warmly and given a detailed tour of the mosque.
After that they took off on the second part of the tour, which was also the longest. They drove through scenic neighborhoods and park, before stopping for a break near the Seehaus restaurant in the large public park known as the English Garden.
Then the bicyclists continued, arriving soon afterward at the Saint Kajetan Church, one of the biggest Roman Catholic churches in Munich, where they stopped for a few moments to pray for peace.
The last part of the tour brought the participants to the Ohel Jakob synagogue, near the city center, where they concluded the tour on a positive note with a strong prayer for peace with body, heart and soul. It was a vivid demonstration of peace and interreligious cooperation and unification.
All the participants wore blue or white Peace Road T-shirts and used the opportunity to speak to bystanders along the 18-kilometer (over 11-mile) route about the International Peace Highway. All day long heaven smiled at the bicyclists with bright sunshine and a little breeze, as though it were telling them, "Yes, your efforts for peace will be heard."
