Russia-2018-10-27-Russian Cultural Evening Celebrates Volunteerism

Ufa, Russia—In the capital of the Russian Republic of Bashkortostan, UPF organized a cultural evening to celebrate the spirit of volunteerism.

Together with City Library No. 17, UPF organized a program called “Ultyr ele yandarym,” which in the Bashkir language means “Sit close next to me.”

The meeting on October 27, 2018, was inspired by the United Nations’ International Volunteer Day as well as Russia’s Year of the Volunteer. People of different ages and nationalities and from different cities gathered in a friendly circle.

Among the speakers was Maria Nazarova, secretary general of UPF-Russia, who gave an inspiring presentation on international activities of the federation. Gabdulla Akhmetshin from the town of Blagoveshchensk introduced the Bashkir ethnic culture, presenting his works on felt and paintings.

Elena Vorobyeva, quite a famous person in Ufa, the founder and organizer of the Pure Ufa volunteer programs, spoke about her work and her experiences.

The meeting resulted in developing plans for future partnerships and further joint projects.
