Lusaka, Zambia—UPF-Zambia was invited to exhibit with hundreds of other Non-Governmental Organizations in the first-ever Zambia Civil Society Organization (CSO) Fair. The event took place Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the Cosmopolitan Mall in Lusaka under a big tent mounted for the occasion. The theme was “Promoting Networking for Effective Service Delivery.” It was organized by the Skillshare Governance Support Foundation.
The event began with an opening ceremony that had performances by pupils and other dancing groups. The first speaker was Mr. Charles Mushitu, chief technical advisor at the Skillshare Foundation. In his remarks he gave the background and the objectives of the organization. The second speaker was thea representative from Zambia’s government, Mr. Humphrey Kapapula. In his speech, he congratulated all the civil society organizations that had exhibits and encouraged the initiative, especially because Zambia was having a monthly national cleaning campaign. The last speaker was a representative of all the exhibitors, who thanked the organizers.
After the ceremony, guests toured the stands and were impressed with the efforts of the civil society organizations. UPF-Zambia displayed magazines, books, and brochures giving away many items.
The UPF exhibit was visited by flocks of people from different fields including many students and representatives of other organizations. It was a good platform for networking with other civil society organizations.
