Portugal-2019-05-21-UPF Plays Prominent Role in Lusophone Group

Lisbon, Portugal—The president of UPF was part of a delegation from PISCIDIL (Lusophone Diaspora Platform) to meet the new executive secretary of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP).

The PISCIDIL delegation was composed of its president, Professor Alberto Araújo, a UPF Ambassador for Peace, and representatives of the various Lusophone countries in PISCIDIL. UPF-Portugal President Sérgio Vieira, a member of the board, represented Cape Verde.

The delegation was received by the highest team of the CPLP Secretariat at its headquarters in Lisbon on May 21, 2019.

The objectives of the hearing were:

  1. Understand the status of the National Citizenship Leadership Training Project, which was presented to the executive secretary's predecessor in August 2018.
  2. Status of the Portuguese/Lusophone Language Distance Learning Project, which was proposed in September 2018.
  3. Issues in support of curricular and non-curricular distance/digital training within the scope of National Citizenship Training, which is now being undertaken by the Lisbon Academy of Sciences and the Gustave Eiffel Professional School in Lisbon.

The meeting was very productive. The CPLP executive team suggested several ways of direct and indirect cooperation for the best success of this project—which they consider very important for solving several problems within and among the countries of the CPLP and also for promoting the expansion of the Portuguese language in the world.

As has been customary in these meetings and with the full support of our Ambassador for Peace, UPF presented a copy of UPF founder Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon’s autobiography to the CPLP executive secretary.
