Lisbon, Portugal—The president of UPF-Portugal introduced the ambassador of Cabo Verde to UPF’s accomplishments around the world, including the recent Africa Summit.
Dr. Sérgio Vieira of UPF was invited to a luncheon conference on November 16, 2019, which featured a lecture by Dr. Manuela Brito, the ambassador of Cabo Verde to Portugal.
Dr. Vieira gave a brief introduction to the ambassador about the objectives of UPF, which is an NGO in general consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations. He explained about the success of the Africa Summit, which UPF held in São Tomé and Príncipe in early September, and the ongoing talks with the Cabo Verdean government to repeat this success there.
Dr. Vieira presented the ambassador with an invitation folder for the UPF World Summit that will take place in Korea in February 2020. He asked for an opportunity to visit her again in her office to explain more about UPF's work around the world and specifically in Africa.
During lunch Dr. Vieira also met a member of the Lisbon City Council and the leader of the social development area of the City Council of Oeiras, a town near Lisbon (near the UPF Peace Embassy), who showed great interest in the UPF Character Education Project. Contacts were also exchanged for a future meeting on the importance of this project, especially for young people.
