Bratislava, Slovakia—The 100th birthday of Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon was honored by friends of UPF at a special program held by UPF-Slovakia.
The event was held on February 25, 2020, which was the 100th anniversary of Reverend Moon’s birth by the solar calendar. It was also an occasion for the Slovak delegation who had traveled to Korea to attend World Summit 2020 to report on their wonderful experiences there. The summit had been held in early February to take place on Reverend Moon’s birthday according to the lunar calendar used in Korea.
The subtitle of the invitation letter stated, “On the occasion of the 100th birthday of Sun Myung Moon.” UPF-Slovakia Secretary General Milos Klas explains, “We chose the solar calendar date because Europeans are not familiar with the lunar calendar.”
The audience consisted of regular guests of UPF lectures or people who had received the founder’s autobiography. Despite the increasing worries about the coronavirus epidemic, 37 persons showed up—more than expected. The audience was obviously curious and listened carefully.
The program started with a video showing the magnificent setting of the World Summit 2020 in the KINTEX Center outside Seoul. Milos Klas explained the various programs while showing a selection of pictures with prominent speakers and main events, in particular the Sunhak Peace Prize.
Two guests who had attended the summit, Petra and Katharina, gave favorable testimonies about their stay, showing their pictures and some video clips. Both had bravely overcome the fear of the coronavirus and were richly rewarded. Some attendees used the opportunity to ask them questions. Finally, five selected guests received our founder’s autobiography to familiarize themselves with his incredible life story.
