Cote d'Ivoire Peace Tour Event at Abidjan City Hall

Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire - Mr. Gbocho Emmanuel, President of UPF-Côte d'Ivoire, welcomed guests to the Global Peace Tour program at the Abidjan City Hall on April 23. Imam Drame Adama and Rev. Mambo Luc opened the gathering with invocations. Special addresses were given by Sheikh Kobeissi Abdul Menhem, Imam of the Al Ghadir Association; Mrs. Ladji Wangue, Founder and President of the NGO Soleil Réconciliation; M. Hamadoun Touré, Spokesman for the UN Operations in Côte d’Ivoire; and H.E. Ali Ajami, Ambassador of Lebanon to Côte d’Ivoire.
Following a video about the Universal Peace Federation, Mr. Doumbia Adama, director of UPF-West Africa, gave the keynote address on the theme of One Family under God: A Vision of Peace for the 21st Century. Certificates were presented to newly-appointed Ambassadors for Peace, and Mr. Eugène Ahondjo, Secretary General of UPF-Côte d'Ivoire, described plans for the coming year.
Two days later, 15 organizations joined together for a clean-up at the University of Abidjan in honor of Earth Day. Tools and materials were donated by the Lebanese community in Côte d'Ivoire.
