Address at the Memorial Program on the Second Anniversary of the Passing of Rev. Sun Myung Moon
Cheongshim World Peace Center, Gapyeong, Korea, August 12, 2014

Respected Dr. Hak Ja Han, national leaders, ladies and gentlemen.

It is an honor to join you in commemorating the second anniversary of the passing of the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, the founder of the Unification Church, and in honoring his legacy.

I would need several days to list the many projects that Rev. Moon initiated in the fields of politics, economics, the media, culture and education, and the positive impact they had in their fields and in the Republic of Korea.

Rev. Moon founded many notable NGOs such as the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) and the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), through which he promoted peace in our world and the welfare of all people. In particular, through the private sector, UPF is carrying out peace initiatives on a global scale in order to overcome the challenges of regionalism and nationalism that afflict the United Nations.

Rev. Moon’s life goal was to convey God’s love to all the world’s people and so bring about a peaceful world. He brought innovation to his field in breaking down the walls that for so long had constrained and restricted humanity. I hope that those of us who remain on earth can uphold, expand and develop Rev. Moon’s great vision for world peace and the salvation of humankind, and guide humanity toward a brighter future.

The reunification of Korea is the desire of Gyeong-gi Province and all people of Korea. We shall make effort to create a foundation for reunification, knowing that this vision will allow us to make further leaps toward becoming an advanced nation. We shall also promote policies that safeguard the happiness and safety of the people and advance the restoration of a warm and blessed community.

I pray that God’s abundant blessings can be upon you and your families here on this glorious and sacred occasion.
