Message of UPF secretary general, Dr. Tageldin Hamad
Africa Day 2015
New York, May 27, 2015
Excellencies, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for coming, and a warm welcome to all of you on behalf of the Universal Peace Federation. We deeply appreciate our ongoing partnership with the African Union, with special thanks and gratitude to Ambassador Tete and his capable staff. More thanks to the UN African Ambassadors wives.
You all look beautiful, but among you, women are the most beautiful. When God created the world, He created woman the last because He wanted to invest His heart and His best creative energy in her. Women, please rejoice; I think God loves you more than all His creation, including men.
Forbes magazine mentioned, "The current era of female empowerment is stronger and better than ever, and the growing number of younger influencers on the list is enough proof that age is nothing but a number. This year, 17 women—all under the age of 45—made it onto FORBES’ annual list of The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women."
Twenty-two years ago, the founders of UPF, Dr. and Mrs. Moon, initiated a speaking tour to America’s fifty states. Mrs. Moon followed that by another worldwide tour to 40 nations, including several African nations.
Their main topic was about the importance of the family and the role of parents in creating peace in their family, the nation and the world. Mrs. Moon said to the women, “Let us change the logic of power for the logic of true love.”
Four days ago in this place, Mrs. Moon spoke about the same topics to over 3,000 women, men and children.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Our troubled world today needs many things, but most of all it needs compassionate, loving hearts.
In Africa, we know [that] when it comes to true love, there is no [one] better than women to give it.
Who are more caring and nourishing than our mothers? Who are more closer to our hearts than our wives? Who stands more for us than our sisters? And who supports us more than our daughters?
So, to our mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters, may the love of God be with you in this year of women's empowerment and development.
May the force be with you as you embark on the journey to empower yourself, your family and Africa.
Happy Africa Day to all of you.
