Address to Interreligious Leadership Conference 2017
Seoul, Korea, November 10 to 14, 2017
Father God, we corporately approach your throne of grace. We approach it boldly, without any intimidation or fear. We are confident, as is the nation of South Korea, that we will obtain and receive your mercies, mercies that are brand new this day.
Mercies that have never been extended to anyone before. These are the mercies that can only be extended by you, our Heavenly Father, to this nation. And, that we might also find your abundant grace, grace, the empowering presence of God that will enable us to be what you have called us to be and to do all that you have called us to do. You alone are our help in time of need.
So hear our cry, O Lord. Attend unto our prayers. You told us in your Holy Word that we have not because we ask not. Or, we have not because we ask with the wrong motive. But our motive asking today is peace for Korea and the world. We have gathered here to ask so that it shall be given, to seek until we find and to knock until you open the doors of a divine miracle to us. We ask for peace, and not the ravages of war, between North and South Korea.
As Korea is a nation flourishing with the Christian faith and all of God’s people while demonstrating respect and cooperation with all faiths, we, faith leaders from America, and every corner of the world, join in support of South Korea, and proclaim that we commit ourselves to God’s spirit of unity in prayer for the peaceful reunification of Korea.
We are very thankful for the example you have given us in Mrs. Moon and her late husband Rev. Sun Myung Moon who demonstrate the importance of unity and love through their encouragement of all faiths to work together for peace. We are also thankful for The Washington Times, which they founded and has worked tirelessly toward that spirit of unity by boldly lifting up the banner of freedom, faith and family, and has given great support for many different religious organizations and leaders to commit themselves collectively to manifest the spirit of unity in our diversity.
Seeds of peace have been sown by South Korea, and we are confident that those seeds will take root, germinate and result in the peace of God that passes all understanding and peace between two nations that can only come from the hand of Almighty God.
Today, inspired by this gathering, we are committed to working diligently to keep the spirit of unity in our churches, denominations and faiths and in our communities, our nations and our world. We will keep this spirit of unity and love alive through the framework and bonding of peace.
Now, Lord Jesus, we ask you to forgive us of our sins individually and collectively, within and between our nations, and forgive those who have sinned against South Korea and other nations. For the Lord is our light and our salvation; whom shall we fear?
Yea, though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we will fear no evil for thou, O Lord, art with us. Your rod and your staff they comfort us. We shall overcome this world by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony, and we love God more than we love our lives and we are not afraid to die for His Will.
For the Lord is the Author and Finisher of our faith and what the Lord Jesus Christ begins in this day, he shall finish. For Christ shall help us to be steadfast, unmovable and always abounding in the purposes of God.
We thank you O Lord that our labor and prayer this day will not be in vain and we will not be weary in well doing. We will be victorious in Christ Jesus, more than conquerors, through the spirit of unity in decreeing and declaring peace for Korea and the world, and not war.
Dear Lord, please watch over Mrs. Moon and this exceptional gathering of religious leaders, faith-based organizations, activists and concerned citizens. Make this rally for peace a voice that will be heard around the world, and make that there will be peace on the Korean Peninsula.
In Your sacred text it is written, – “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” With that faith and hope, we pray in Your holy name. Amen.
