C. Date: Address to World Summit 2020

Address to World Summit 2020, Seoul, Korea, February 3-8, 2020

I sincerely congratulate the Universal Peace Federation for the grand opening of the World Summit 2020, which is attended by leaders from all levels of the world, including heads of state and government from around the world. I am Chuichi Date, the speaker of the House of Councillors in the Japanese Diet until August last year.

It is a great honor for me to give a greeting at this wonderful opening ceremony of International Summit Council for Peace (ISCP). The purpose of this meeting is to proclaim to the whole world the creation of the ISCP, where the world's top leaders gather and discuss peace.

The International Summit Council for Peace was proposed by Rev. Sun Myung Moon and his wife, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon. They have been committed to achieving world peace over a lifetime. In particular, this year marks the 100th anniversary of Rev. Moon’s birth and the 77th anniversary of Dr. Moon's birth. They have promoted the thought of “Interdependence, Mutual Prosperity, and Universal Values,” and today the spirit of that thought is urgently needed more than at any other time.

I would like to express my respect to Dr. Moon, who has circumvented the Earth four times last year alone to promote world peace, inheriting Reverend Moon’s will. I think that's exactly why she is praised as a "True Mother, a mother of peace" who is creating peace in the world.

Japan also welcomed Dr. Moon in October 2019 at the Japan Summit on the theme of “East Asian Peace and the Perspective of Japan–U.S.–Korea Cooperation in the Era of the Civilization of the Pacific,” and the Hyojeong Cultural Blessing with 40,000 people attending. And she gave us a wonderful speech.

Lastly, the ISCP, which will be established today, will engage in lively discussions to solve the world's conflicts, ethnic problems, environmental problems, hunger, poverty, and family problems. I sincerely pray that the ISCP will become an organization that contributes greatly to world peace by combining the wisdom and power of world leaders. Greetings on behalf of the participants and leaders from Japan. Thank you very much.
