Chacheongsao, Thailand - Religious Youth Service-Thailand is sponsoring a project at Plaeng Yao, Chacheongsao Province from May 6-16. The theme is Enhancing Education through Interreligious Cooperation. As they arrived at the Chacheongsao City train station, the District Chief Officer of Chacheongsao City, Mr. Poochung Rungsin, welcomed the participants with traditional Thai music and garlands on behalf of the Provincial Governor.
At the Opening Ceremony, the Deputy Governor of Chacheongsao, Hon. Bundit Teweethiwarak, local government officials, students at the Prachanukhro School, Ambassadors for Peace, and Muslim leaders of Plaeng Yao District welcomed participants, who will be doing projects at the school and visiting a local mosque, temple, and church.
Representatives of UPF donated funds to help with the costs of renovating the school, and the Women's Federation for World Peace donated a fax machine.
This is the seventeenth Religious Youth Service project in Thailand.

We are in the middle of the work period. Four young people from the Asian Task Force joined the project as well as members of a basketball team from Sri Lanka. Their coach is an alumnus of the Interreligious Peace Sports Festival. The Women's Federation for World Peace will offer scholarships to students in this area. A celebration of the International Day of Families will take place on May 15.
