Atlanta, United States—

Background: The second Atlanta project was an extension of the success of the first project. The RYS goal is to create models of urban cooperation in the USA which help create paths to racial reconciliation. The Summerhill Community Development Project was again the agency RYS worked with for it also provides an excellent model of what community service should be.

Duration: June 14 - 21, 1995

Work: Working with Summerhill Community Development, participants joined their ongoing programs by painting rooms in private houses, gardening, and helping with basic carpentry.

Summary: Dr. and Mrs. Burton's of Atlanta build up this program and worked to see all components of the project succeed. The mayor of Atlanta sent the Head of the Office of Youth to address the program and the President of West Georgia College also spoke.
