RYS Constructs Road in a Rural Sri Lankan Village

Background: The RYS and the Women's Federation for World Peace linked together to create a series of programs in Sri Lanka that would serve three major purposes.
- Help with rural upliftment
- Create models of religious and ethnic cooperation
- Have urban youth reconnect to the rural aspect of life in Sri Lanka
These projects are designed to be inexpensive an easily duplicatable.
Duration: December 22 - 24, 1995
Work: Road construction in a small rural village done in conjunction with the Sarvodaya movement.
Summary: This project brought participants from Colombo's urban middle class youth to stay in the homes of local villagers and get a sense of what life is like for so many of their countrymen.
