Koggala Beach, Sri Lanka— Alumni Training

Background: As Friends Alumni Leadership Training immediately followed the RYS project and its purpose was to train a group of leaders that could return home an organize or support local RYS activities. The training was given by RYS Director, John Gehring and RYS Asian Training Director, Mrs. Fazida Razak.

Duration: January 11 - 14, 2000

Training: Participants were given the opportunity to learn and discuss each aspect of preparing to organize and run and RYS project from the point of conceiving the project to the successful completion and evaluation of the project.

Summary: Several alumni now have the desire and confidence to have an RYS project in the Eastern part of the country which is heavily controlled by the military. The plan is supported by the students of the Eastern University as well as their professor of comparative religion.
