Klongtomtai, Krabi, Thailand— 2-day local RYS Project
Duration: March 20 - 24, 2004
Seven RYS alumni organized a 3-day local RYS project in Klongtomtai, Krabi on March 21-24, 2004. The main project was Tree Planting co-hosted by Klongtomtai Sub District Local Government in Krabi Province and WFWP-Thailand. Thirty-seven students participated this project coming from five high schools and three universities.
The Klongtomtai Sub District Local Government sponsored the trees while the housewives in the local community helped to prepare meals for the participants. Kanchanapisat Vitayalai School sponsored the accommodations and meeting rooms. Other sponsors where Krabi Bank, Krungthai Bank, Aunam Hotel, Electric Company, and Lactasoy Milk Company.
WFWP presented AIDS Prevention and Family Value lectures to the participants. Group discussion, entertainment, and cultural exchange included in the program. During the Tree-Planting service, residents nearby the site joined the tree-planting works with the participants. The spirit of living for the sake of others gives inspiration to the local community and the participants created a good atmosphere around the work site and created a true and happy community in Krabi during the event.
