Australia – On November 25th Fazida Razak, an RYS Global manager held an EID celebration at her home in order to celebrate the end of Ramadan. This celebration was also an opportunity to acknowledge the co-partners of Building Bridges events in 2006 and to forge stronger ties for 2007. Family, friends and Building Bridges co-partners, the Loretto Sisters Community, Buddhist International Lights Association, RYS and IPSF alumni attended throughout the afternoon. A Lutheran Pastor commented that using this opportunity as an interfaith gathering was an excellent way to foster good relations amongst other faiths. Two Catholic Sisters said, "We were honored to be invited to this occasion for the first time in our lives." Representatives of the Buddhist Light Association of West Australia felt they should now emulate this gathering for the Chinese New Year next February 2007 as it enhances further understanding of one another's faith traditions and culture.
During the party, a lively discussion on family values ensued as well as discussions regarding plans for 2007. A total of 38 people attended.
