Buenos Aires, Argentina—A “participatory approach with values” was developed in the Ambassadors for Peace meeting held on August 14 at UFP’s Peace Embassy. The event was directed by Ambassador for Peace Juan Varga, a coach and a social psychologist. The workshop ended with some group work. The goal: Guests were asked to choose a value that they identified with and write about it; then, they shared their idea with the group and agreed to create a new text together.
One of the groups concluded with this text: “We declare that we, as Ambassadors for Peace, have the unavoidable commitment to achieve unity. But unity is impossible without justice, which should be equal. Likewise, unity should be tied to solidarity and the security that this is possible, from prudence in each decision and action. UBUNTU.”
Later, Miguel Werner, secretary general of UPF-Argentina, reviewed UPF’s activities and gave a survey to Ambassadors for Peace. Through the survey, they could choose, from their wisdom and experience, an area in which to participate, collaborate, and support for the development of UPF’s mission and work. The idea is to create work groups specific with their respective coordinators.
At the beginning of the meeting, Andrés Melgarejo, member of the UPF-Argentina Peace Council, read the words of UPF’s founder as an inspiration for the meeting. At the end, as usual, we celebrated last month’s birthdays. We also gave a family basket to Ailen Marquesano. Emanuel Sayavedra was the emcee.
It is worth remembering that these meetings, held the second Wednesday of each month, are educational, informative, organizational, and motivational. In July’s meeting, Ambassador for Peace Christian Oreb, General Coordinator of Red Cooperar of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, spoke on the topic “Engagement and Commitment: Solidarity and Peace in the Tercentenary.”
