Asia-Pacific ILC 2021, July 8: Session VIII: Closing Session

Asia Pacific—The Closing Session of the July 7-8 International Leadership Conference 2021 (ILC2021)—Asia Pacific program was held on July 8 from 4 to 6 p.m. Bangkok time. A former head of state, a parliamentarian and a UPF leader shared their reflections on the two-day virtual conference and congratulated UPF on the success of the event. More than 1,600 people registered for the event and 235 people joined it live on Zoom while other participants did so through YouTube and Facebook Live.
The session began with a video presentation of highlights from the Asia Pacific ILC2021 and was followed by congratulatory remarks.
Mr. Masaichi Hori, president of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) Asia Pacific 2, thanked the speakers and participants for taking part in the event and accentuated the importance of love as a key to solving discrimination and the solution to the peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula. He also stressed the need to resolve the tensions between Japan and Korea and for the relationship between the two countries to be restored.
H.E. Ati George Sokomanu, founding president of Vanuatu and a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE), expressed that what impressed him most about the conference is the work UPF is doing to attain peace for the Korean Peninsula. He went on to say that “nothing seems to stop UPF in speaking for peace and reunification of the Korean Peninsula and in the world. I truly believe that there’s a hope that we will be able to bring this to success.”
Hon. Suos Yara, vice chairman of the Commission of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Information and Media of the National Assembly of Cambodia and director general of the Asian Cultural Council (ACC), began by acknowledging UPF’s founders, the late Rev. Sun Myung Moon and his wife, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, and expressed his appreciation to all the speakers. He concluded by encouraging everyone to work for peace and security and said: “Your security is my security, my security is your security.”
The closing remarks were given by Hon. Ek Nath Dhakal, a former minister of the government of Nepal and chairman of UPF-Asia Pacific. He stated that mutual prosperity, interdependence and universally shared values are the keys to bridging the gap between the Korean Peninsula and the world.
