Argentina—Clemente López, Leader and Counselor in native matters of the Qom Daviazaiqui Community (Derqui President, Pilar, Province of Buenos Aires), was named an Ambassador for Peace by UPF-Argentina along with eight representatives of different areas of leadership. The meeting, held on Zoom, took place on July 14, 2021 and was broadcast on UPF-Argentina’s YouTube channel, with over 400 views.

With his family, and with help from artists like Jairo and Landriscina, Mr. Lopez managed to acquire four hectares of land in the province of Buenos Aires for community development. In the beginning, there were 16 families and now there are around 70, seeking to preserve their customs, culture and ancestral roots with activities in schools and other spaces and, through two books, sharing their original identity, values, language, etc. He was applauded for his commitment.

Along with Clemente López, other people recognized as Ambassadors for Peace were Elena Alarcón, teacher specialist in Ceremonial and Protocol, Director of the Sembrando Vida Institute, Posadas, Province of Misiones; Gustavo Aldasoro and Mariza Guerra, who chair Ediciones América, Córdoba, Province of Córdoba; Silvia Bojart, plastic artist and writer, Universal Culture Honorary Ambassador, Real-Izar la Paz, Sierra de los Padres, Mar del Plata, Province of Buenos Aires; Fabián Castillo, chairman of the Federation of Commerce and Industry of Buenos Aires (FECOBA), Autonomous City of Buenos Aires; Father Ricardo López, priest of the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Parsis, Paraná, Province of Entre Ríos; and Miguel Martínez Pereyra and Liliana Cravero, Global Director of the Health and Education Rotarian Action Group, and Secretary of the Monserrat Rotary Club Inner Wheel, Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, respectively.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention an initiative that UPF is supporting now: Think Tank 2022, with leadership conferences in all regions in which specialists of all areas can share their contributions and perspectives for peace on the Korean peninsula and its benefits for the world. Also, the Rallies of Hope, in which the Co-founder, Dr. Hak Ja Han, calls for a spiritual revitalization and a return to the Creator´s bosom to resolve the root of the problems of the world and the planet, and to come together as one family,” expressed Rev. Dong Mo Shin, Regional Director of UPF-South America, in a brief message.

Carlos Varga, Director of UPF-Argentina, explained UPF’s third Peace principle: “The family is the school of love, the foundation to rebuild community ties and to establish peace on solid pillars.” Welcoming remarks were given to the new Ambassadors for Peace by Adrían De Angelis, founder and chairman of the Argentina and Mercosur Union of Christian Journalists, representative of the International Media Association for Peace (IMAP) in Argentina. The meeting ended with a toast to a good future, given by Miguel Werner, Chairman of UPF-Argentina.

The meeting was moderated by Ambassadors for Peace Luba Opeka and Mario Cáceres, who warmly introduced the new Ambassadors for Peace and gave familiarity to the program. The event included musical numbers: “Mundo de Paz,” performed by Ailin Rodríguez, Thomas Dantas and Marco Castellón, and “A los amigos del alma,” by a group of various musical artists, introduced by Ambassador for Peace Graciela Almada, who leads the initiative “Música para la Paz.”
