Moscow, Russia—Twenty schoolchildren taking part in the UPF-organized “school of volunteers” accomplished several service projects in March 2022.
Elena Knyazeva, program director of UPF-Moscow, designs and leads the volunteer activities.
Students of the “Free School” in the Moscow Region city of Zhukovsky participated in an “eco-quest.” The students figured out how much garbage thrown into a landfill decomposes. They learned how to sort waste, visited an eco-market, and learned about recycling and the second life of waste.
The school of volunteers also visited an animal shelter, bringing 15 bags of dog food and warm blankets. Snow was removed from the shelter, and the horses were cleaned.
