Food Reaches Flood Victims in Myanmar

Myanmar-2008-08-29-Food Reaches Flood Victims in Myanmar

The International Relief Friendship Foundation extends its thanks to the many generous donors who responded to its request for donations to assist people in Myanmar who lost their homes because of the floods following Cyclone Nargis that hit this Southeast Asian nation on May 2, 2008.

Donations have been channeled through the Myanmar non-governmental organization ABITSU, which has been distributing aid in the Laputta township in the Irrawaddy Delta region.

The accompanying photos show food distribution in June to refugees in the Kanyingone and Outsat Coo village areas. According to official reports, there are 20,000 refugees in the region, but the ABITSU aid team estimates that more 60,000 refugees are living in 22 temporary camps.
