Moscow, Russia—Twenty-five Moscow children aged 4 to 12 competed in a chess tournament organized by Dmitry Samko, the leader of UPF-Moscow, and the "Joy of Childhood" center.
Children from different regions of Moscow competed in three age categories. All the participants received commemorative medals and certificates.
Many of the children who participated were completely new to chess at the beginning of the school year, but by the time of the tournament they were playing chess seriously and confidently.
For the parents and grandparents who came to cheer on the young chess players, such events confirm that the children are learning the skills of friendly communication, fair play and noble rivalry.
