Bogotá, Colombia - A festival took place on January 17, 2009 in a small area of Bogotá called Usme in collaboration with the Seed of Life Christian community and the Hera singing group, which is composed of six girls from a Catholic school.
The event began at 8:00 on Saturday morning with a greeting by the children of Seed of Life who belong to the Scouts group.
After a prayer and a short talk by the pastor of Seed of Life, the activity began with a march along the streets of the neighborhood in Usme. The theme of the march was family unity and sexual purity.
The march ended at a park where we carried out a social activity to promote the well-being of the community. In the park we did some cleaning activities to take care of the green spaces and arrange the mesh fences; we finished by planting two trees to symbolize the results of interreligious and intercultural activities for the whole community.
After the social activities, we held a conference for the community entitled “The Ethics of True Love and Sexuality,” and closed with a song by the Seed of Life group and the Hera singers.
Participants in the event included members of our organization, Seed of Life, and community action groups in Usme. Approximately 120 people participated.
