Taipei, Taiwan - Since August 25 UPF-Taiwan has been mobilizing Ambassadors for Peace and other volunteers to clean up after Typhoon Morakot and deliver supplies to people in hard-hit areas.
The storm struck the southern part of the island on August 9 and dumped 83 inches of rain (over 2.1 m) in some areas. Buildings collapsed in the floodwater, and mudslides buried everything in their paths. It was the deadliest typhoon to hit Taiwan in recorded history.
