Yekaterinburg, Russia - UPF Urals organized a student excursion to a sensory garden to mark the International Environment Day, June 5. Students from the village of Pokrovskoye and representatives of the Yekaterinburg general public gained theoretical and practical knowledge about the environment as they worked together in the garden, which was established in April.
The community of Yekaterinburg is supporting the existing garden and is going to build more such gardens.
About 30 representatives of UPF, the Youth Federation, and people from the community also did waste collecting and removal at the Mayakovsky Culture and Recreation Park. The Amusement Park was named after a famous Soviet poet Vladimir Mayakovsky who wrote a poem "The new city: the worker and the warrior" after visiting Sverdlovsk (the former name of Ekaterinburg) in 1928. The main part of the park is the forest park zone, with lots of cafes hidden under the shade of the trees.
