Anzio and Aprilia, Italy - Two UPF medical clinics will open in Italy to serve immigrants and low-income Italians: a smaller one in Aprilia and a bigger one in Anzio.
The central role of these UPF Medical Centers will be to provide a highly advanced medical services at low cost to immigrants and Italians and to train foreign doctors, especially from third-world countries, in the newest technologies and provide long-distance medical services.
This is a cooperative project with universities in Italy and other countries. It is registered with the European Community as an Italian branch of the Cambridge International Virtual University of Malta.
The funding for the medical centers is a combination of public and private, coming from a group of Ambassadors for Peace plus some support from the regional government. Public funds will likely increase as the clinics provide important services for the entire area. Partnerships are also being sought with embassies.
Agreements have been made with public institutions for the Aprilia clinic to receive immigrants and treat them with respect according to their cultural background and religion. Volunteer doctors from several countries will make this possible. The medical center has been offering dental and physical therapy services for the past year.
The bigger one, in Anzio, will be a high-technology medical center offering many special services. Plans are to equip it with a rare machine that can do a full-body scan and diagnose cancerous tumors. A dental first-aid center will operate 24 hours a day. It has been a home for the elderly, providing medical care for them. In January it will begin serving children and the general public.
Both Anzio and Aprilia are in the Lazio region of west-central Italy, which includes Rome. Aprilia is the biggest city in the Lazio region after Rome, which is about 30 km away. Anzio is on the coast, about 57 km southwest of Rome.
