Pokrovskoye, Urals, Russia - The Women’s council of the Pokrovskoye village in the Sverdlovsk region welcomed their partners in the project City Helps the Village on March 5. Together with representatives of UPF Ural chapter, a Yekaterinburger Alexei Golosheikin came to share his ideas about how we should align our life course and revive and develop our rural areas without waiting for favorable circumstances and support from the state.
In December 2010, he discussed these important issues at the Pokrov school with students of the 5th and 8th forms. Children and teachers highly appreciated the importance of the theme and life experience of Alexei Nikolayevich. He was invited to the next meeting.
The village women’s council members gathered together in one of school classrooms to discuss the future prospects of their village. The women’s roles in personal and family life is very important. Therefore, women take an active concern in well-being of their village, their desire to work with all their might for positive changes is the guarantee of success and a good example for others.
The lecture was naturally followed by discussion and planning of their future activity steps, which with participation of volunteers could be realized within the schedule of the project in the period of the warm season. The lively concerns of the participants proved the urgency of the issue and their good mutual understanding.
The initiators express their heart’s gratitude to Andrei Golosheikin for his positive perception of the world and inexhaustible enthusiasm.
Pokrovskoye Children Participate in the Guiding Star Program
During spring vacations in April 2011, O.V. Vorobyova, a school teacher in Pokrovskoye, together with three school students and the UPF-Ural volunteer N.P. Yedunova, made a trip to St. Petersburg to take part in the Guiding Star educational program. The program includes trainings, games, discussions about tolerance, unity, altruism, and family; the team game in the nature “Challenge yourself”; an important social project; and visiting a museum and a theater. The purpose of the program is to help teenagers to wisely choose their life priorities and give them moral education. The author of the program is Tatyana Krasnosumova, the leader of the UPF-Northwest chapter in Russia. The participation of delegates from Pokrovskoye became possible due to joint support of UPF-Ural and Northwest chapters.
During the program, the Ural delegates learned many interesting and important things. Also they received Diplomas of Ambassadors for Peace and Young Ambassadors for Peace. After coming back home they enthusiastically set out to organizing their “good deeds.”
