Moscow, Russia - A round-table discussion on “Foreign projects for volunteers” took place in the State University of Management under the support of the Moscow Department of Family and Children’s Policy “Sodruzhestvo” on April 28.
Among the participants were representatives of volunteer organizations, universities, state and municipal institutions, NGOs, initiators of volunteer activity from other countries, and volunteers. At the opening of the program, the director of the “Unity of Youth” center, Alexander Alexeyev, told about the policy of the Moscow administration concerning volunteerism. Among the priorities he named the importance of involving young volunteers in national-level projects: Olympics, sports contests, etc. Volunteers shared their experiences of working in different places of the world.
Konstantin Krylov, the representative of the Universal Peace Federation, talked about the South Caucasus Peace Initiative, the Baltic Dialogue, and other UPF projects that need support of volunteers. He also invited volunteers to the summer projects of the Universal Peace Federation in the Baikal region, Novosibirsk, and Georgia.
Partnerships with other Moscow volunteers promises good results in the future. UPF-Russia is invited to participate to the eighth Russia-wide Conference on Volunteer Services to be held later in May at the Russian Ministry of Economic Development.
