Free Juice Distributed on Buddha Jayanti in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, Nepal - Free juice was distributed on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti, May 25, 2013, in Ananda Ktu Vihar, Swoyambhu, a World Heritage Site sacred to Buddhists in Kathmandu, Nepal. From morning until evening people from all walks of life paid their respects to the Buddha. Overall, more than 5,000 people attended. UPF volunteers offered juice and mineral water to children, women, the elderly, devotees, scouts, security personal and people in general. Approximately 90 people donated blood as an act of charity on the occasion.

Buddha Jayanti, the day of the full moon every May, is celebrated in South Asian and other Buddhist communities in commemoration of the birth, enlightenment and death of the Buddha.
