Peruvian Ambassadors for Peace Launch Multiple Service Projects

Lima, Peru—After the recent formation of working groups, many Ambassadors for Peace have begun using their talents and connections in programs to benefit their fellow Peruvians.
At their March 21, 2015, meeting, Peace Council representatives started four committees: Marriage and Family; Education and Human Development; Peace and Security; and Interreligious Harmony. Through their activities, the Peace Council want to spread the vision of UPF Founders Dr. and Mrs. Sun Myung Moon: “One world under God.”
On March 27, Ambassador for Peace Dr. Jaime Valdivia, who leads the Marriage and Family Committee, organized an educational program for parents and students in a school in Lima’s district of San Martín de Porres.
On April 11, the Young Ambassadors for Peace team began a series of programs in the Ventanilla district of Lima to support parents of children with special needs. The first meeting for the children was conducted by an Ambassador for Peace who is a martial arts expert.
Also on April 11 in the evening, members of the UPF Interfaith Committee visited the main Russian Orthodox Church of Lima, where a service celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus was being held. The service, which lasted more than three hours with people standing most of that time, included chants and songs, a procession and a blessing ceremony. The priest, Padre Sergio, mentioned the presence of UPF to the congregation, thanking UPF for its interfaith work.
