Malaysia-2017-11-09-Youth Volunteers Help with Flood Relief in Penang, Malaysia

Butterworth, Malaysia—A team of youth volunteers was organized by UPF-Malaysia to help with flood relief in an area of Penang, a state located on the northwest coast of Malaysia, that had experienced severe flash flooding caused by continuous heavy downpour in early November 2017.

The initiative received support from Ajar-ajar Malaysia, a nonprofit organization, and other organizations, as well as universities.

On November 9, volunteers were dispatched to different areas in Butterworth, a large town in Seberang Perai in Penang, to help clean homes that were impacted by the floods. Also, a donation drive was held, which successfully raised funds to purchase basic daily necessities and toiletries for those in need.
