Former UN Under-Secretary-General Shares Vision of Sports for Peace

Bern, Switzerland - Former Swiss Federal President and Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Hon. Mr. Adolf Ogi, joined the ranks of the international network of Universal Peace Federation's Ambassadors for Peace at a gathering in Fraubrunnen, near Bern, Switzerland, on October 7.
Mr. Ogi spoke in depth about his commitment to family values and international and interreligious cooperation for the sake of peace and development. As former UN Special Adviser on Sport for Development and Peace, he particularly stressed the importance of sports for peace and development, since sports offer significant opportunities for character building, especially for youth.
UPF has been an important advocate of sports for peace through its Peace Cup, the Interreligious Peace Sports Festival, and Play football – make Peace, found in many countries around the world, including Switzerland.
Mr. Ogi stated that the appointment will encourage him to continue his efforts for world peace and prosperity for all humanity in accordance with the UPF’s goal and vision of “One Family under God."
