Competition in the Urals: "Hey! Outrun Me!"

Yekaterinbrg, Russia - The complete text of the motto of the “Run Hour” activity that was held on Saturday, June 4, was “Outrun me on 100m and get your prize!” All those who know something about the activity also know that it is usually held on Sundays. So, why it was Saturday and with such a motto this time?

In the Historical Park of Yekaterinburg, the second Ecological Festival “For clean and healthy city” took place on June 4. The “Run Hour” was a part of the program “Health means sports” in the form of 100m paired heats. Among the competitors were also those who created the activity – Evgeny Skvortsov and Tatyana Turchaninova. Anyone could join, but the majority of the participants were children and teenagers. Parents and passers-by felt hesitant, explaining that they were not in good condition or had high-heeled shoes on. Still, they were good fans supporting the runners; they expressed their approval by buoyant shouting and rapturous applause. Young people are always full of enthusiasm and energy, and few adults would dare contend with them!

The motto and the main condition was that any enthusiast who could outrun the mastermind would get a prize. The prizes were of different kinds: toy dinosaurs for boys, a game of tag with a looking glass inside for girls, books of literary works, and manuals teaching about personal growth for adults. We express our gratitude to the initiators of the Festival for the gifts of toys!

At the beginning of the event, each participant put on the "Run Hour” identification. Then followed the command: “March on!” and the runners took off: 25 meters … accelerate … turn … run back …one more round … finish! Afterwards: handing prizes and a group photo of the participants together with their parents and the “Run Hour” banner.

The form of the competition appeared to be very interesting. We recommend our experience to all who are organizing such activities in their cities!
