US Women Take Peace Queen Cup

With a 92-minute goal, the US women's soccer [football] team defeated Canada to win the Peace Queen Cup on June 21. The finalists and their scores were the same as in hte inaugural tournament in 2006.The tournament in Suwon, Korea, attracted women's teams from eight nations, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Italy, Republic of Korea, and New Zealand.
The eight-day tournament attracted attention because of the Summer Olympic Games being held in Beijing in August. Angela Hucles, who scored the US's only goal, told AP, "I think this is great preparation. This tournament has been high-quality games against top-level opponents."
