Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - Thirty-four students were named as Collegiate Ambassadors for Peace in the first annual awards ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. The event was jointly organized by two universities, the University of Malaya and the University of Utara Malaya. With the active collaboration of both universities, altogether 550 students from nine universities attended.

Local and International Speakers
The CAP National Conference featured several outstanding speakers. The first speaker was Mr. James Poon of the Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles-Malaysia, who shared the topic, "Dream Big," motivating students the importance of having dreams and goals in their lives. He also explained that the biggest dream everyone can have is that o "one world family." Next Ek Nath Dhakal shared experiences of success in Nepal. Finally Professor Mustapha Kassim spoke on "Making a Difference."
Talent Night Promotes Service Projects
After a day of lectures and group activities, participants had their talent night in the evening. Some universities prepared a beautiful cultural dance for everyone to enjoy. There were even dances from Yemeni, Somali, and Chinese delegates. Everyone was moved by the wonderful cultural performances. Participants also performed skits from topics related to cross-cultural marriage, the role of CAP, and gender equality. These skits not only entertained but also conveyed very important messages.

At the end of the conference, students gave very good response and comments. The presentations were indeed an eye-opening experience for them, and they expressed interest in joining projects and workshops in the future.
The presence of 70 international students made the event even more special since there were a number of Muslim students from the Middle East. The work of the Middle East Peace Initiative can be advanced by raising young people as Collegiate Ambassadors for Peace to work for peace in their respective regions.
