Young Peace Ambassadors Club Forms in Moscow

Moscow, Russia - The first meeting of the peacemakers’ club “Young Peace Ambassadors” took place November 19. The club was created as an educational and discussion platform and a way for young activists to meet and share their experiences. The meeting was attended by students at Moscow universities and working youth. Mr. Jacques Marion, Secretary General of UPF-Eurasia, addressed the the gathering.
The meeting proved to be very interesting. Mr. Marion discussed a new aspect of peacemaking and its spiritual and philosophic aspect. Many participants in the meeting are involved in volunteering and peacemaking activities and are familiar with UN projects. Nevertheless, the young people reported that they gained new perspectives about peacebuilding. Mr. Marion explained that stable families form the foundation of lasting peace and that peace means not just the absence of war but also cooperation among people of different backgrounds, religions, and characters.
He gave examples of UPF projects to protect family values and promote interreligious dialogue, such as: Blessing Ceremony and interreligious conferences. Mr. Marion stressed the importance of developing a parental heart as the best way to solve the problems facing the world. After his speech, he answered questions posed by the students. They asked about ways to prevent conflicts and methods to teach citizens of our nation to respect the family. During informal sharing over coffee, they continued discussing these and many other issues.
In January, at the next meeting, the topic “The Role of Religion in Moral Education: A proposed interreligious council within the UN framework” will be discussed. We invite to this meeting all who find the topic interesting. We shall also talk about establishing an Interreligious Youth Council in Moscow.
19 ноября состоялась первая встреча миротворческого клуба «Молодежные Послы мира». Миротворческий клуб «МПМ» задуман как образовательная дискуссионная площадка и также место для встреч и обмена опытом социально-активной молодежи. В заседании клуба участвовали студенты московских ВУЗов и рабочая молодежь. Перед молодежью выступил г-н Марион, Генеральный Секретарь Федерации за всеобщий мир Евразии.
Встреча прошла очень интересно, в своем выступлении перед молодежью г-н Марион раскрыл новый аспект миротворчества, его внутреннюю философскую составляющую. Многие участники встречи, сами не раз участвовавшие в добровольческой и миротворческой деятельности, знакомы с проектами ООН. Однако, как потом рассказывали участники встречи, раньше они не рассматривали вопросы построения мира в таком ракурсе. Г-н Марион рассказал, что основой построения крепкого мира является крепкая семья, а мир – это не просто отсутствие войны, это взаимодействие людей разных национальностей, вероисповеданий, интересов. Он привел в пример проекты Федерации за всеобщий мир, направленные на укрепление семейных ценностей и создание межрелигиозного диалога, в их числе: церемония Благословения, межрелигиозные конференции. Г-н Марион подчеркнул важность воспитания родительского сердца, так как это путь для решения проблем мира Их интересовало, как можно заранее предотвратить конфликты, как воспитать у граждан нашей страны уважение к институту семьи. Эти и другие многочисленные вопросы обсуждались также во время неформальной части встречи.
В январе, на следующем заседании клуба будет рассмотрена следующая тема: «Роль религии в нравственном воспитании. Межрелигиозный совет при ООН». Всех, кому интересна эта тема, приглашаем на эту встречу, где также поговорим о создании Межрелигиозного молодежного совета в Москве.
