The initiators of the Forum were State Committee of the Karelian Republic for Youth Affairs, Physical Culture, Sports, and Tourism together with a state body of the Karelian Republic “Karelian regional youth center” with the support of the Government of the republic. The Forum was attended by more than 600 young people from different regions of Russia and CIS countries. The delegation of the UPF Young Ambassadors for Peace helped in managing such events as the football tournament “Play Football Make Peace” and the Pageant of beauty of character and life style “Mister and Miss Hyperborea-2011.”

The pageant was one of the brightest events of the program. Among the applicants there were more than 30 young people: representatives from Cherepovets, Segezh, Kaliningrad, Moscow, Petrozavodsk, and other cities of Russia. The program of the Pageant consisted of several stages: participation in the lectures of the section on “Volunteerism,” volunteer project, selection tour, and the final Gala.

The lectures in the section on “Volunteerism” headed by Daria Makovetskaya, leader of the Karelian Volunteerism Development Center, were about volunteerism in Russia and other nations of the world. The young people were told about the significance of volunteerism, the kind of work volunteers do, and how they develop their activity in Russia and other countries of the world.

During the volunteer project, the participants cleaned litter the local beach and near the camp. It should be specially mentioned that not just participants and initiators of the competition were doing the work; they were also joined by other volunteers of the project.
Ten contestants participated in the Pageant finale. They presented their “trademark” presentation about their life principles, views, values. and dreams; and afterwards they demonstrated their best artistic abilities in singing, dancing, or short theatrical sketches. So, the final turned into a big bright performance. As a result, Ilya Kirillov from Segezh and Alexandra Kovalyonok from Kaliningrad were awarded by the jury the title of Mister and Miss Hyperborea. Other contestants received honors such as Mister and Miss “Good Heart of Hyperborea,” Mister and Miss “Talent,” etc.
