More than 100 participants from Russia, Asia (including Bangladesh, India, Taiwan, and China), and Europe (Belgium, Germany, Slovenia, and Turkey) indicated interest in the program. About 50 people participated, addressing issues related to North-South trade, which delegates indicated was a topic of pressing interest. Simultaneous interpretation allowed participants to understand each others' thinking. At the conclusion of the simulation, participants drafted a resolution containing a list of suggestions, which will be communicated through NGOs to international organizations.

The simulation was related to the Model UN simulations organized by MGIMO, Russia’s best known and most prestigious university focusing on the humanities. Model UNs are academic simulations of UN bodies that aim to educate participants about current events, topics in international relations, diplomacy and the United Nations agenda.

The theme of the 2013 Seliger Forum was "Continuity of traditions and innovative vision." Begun in 2005, Seliger Forums in Russia's Tver region bring together young people to study and discuss issues in political science, economics, art, literature, and culture.

The Eurasian Club of Youth Ambassadors for Peace is an association of young leaders of Russia who have been appointed Youth Ambassadors for Peace from UPF. Young Ambassadors for Peace from Eurasia participated in last year's Seliger Forum and won an award for their annual Spring Week of Goodness Campaign.
