Russian Youth Attend Program on Tolerance
Pokrovskoye, Russia - Tenth-graders in a Russian village discussed issues of tolerance in a special program supported by UPF.
The program, “And the Sun Has Spots,” was organized and presented by primary school teacher Olga Vorobyova, an Ambassador for Peace, and Russian language and literature teacher and class tutor Tatyana Ponomareva in the village of Pokrovskoye on Nov. 21, 2014. The Ural chapter of UPF-Russia, which has been a longtime partner of the joint project “City Helps the Village,” provided methodological support.
The students discussed the characteristics of a tolerant person. They also spoke about rules of communication in a team and worked on communication skills to more fully know themselves and others.
Father Dionysius, the priest of the local church, was invited by the organizers to take part in the event. His position with regard to tolerance was very balanced and thoughtful, and the tenth-graders listened with respect and genuine interest. They actively engaged in the dialogue with pleasure.
