UPF-Russia Celebrates Centenary of French Writer
Moscow, Russia—A UPF webinar on the 100th anniversary of the birth of French writer Anne Golon attracted about 10,000 online participants.
Mrs. Golon (1921-2017) authored the Angélique series of historical novels together with her husband, Serge Golon (1903-1972), a French artist of Russian descent.
The webinar, which was held on December 17, 2021, by UPF’s International Association of Arts and Culture for Peace (IAACP), raised issues of family values in arts and ethics in culture.
Nadine Golubinoff, the daughter of Anne and Serge Golon, was one of the speakers. Other participants in the discussion were the French painter Lyudmila Menage, who illustrated the Angélique novels; Princess Vasilina Naryshkina from the Czech Republic, who was related the Golons; and Princess Bagration-Mukhranskaya from Switzerland.
The teleconference was co-hosted by Dmitry Samko, the Moscow UPF leader; and by writer Svetlana Savitskaya, an Ambassador for Peace and recipient of the Golden Pen of Russia National Literary Award.
At the end of the webinar, Olga Beketova from the city of Samara was awarded an Ambassador of Peace certificate as a new active supporter of IAACP.
The live broadcast aroused great interest in social networks and generated an interesting discussion in the comments, which means that the questions raised and the understanding of traditional family values are very relevant to this day.
