Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire—On November 20, 2017, UPF-Côte d’Ivoire organized a seminar for members of the Côte d’Ivoire chapter of the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAPP) at the Ibis-Plateau Hotel, Abidjan. The theme of the seminar was how a philosophy of peace can help parliamentarians contribute to the advent of a lasting peace in Côte d’Ivoire.
Hon. Jean Likane-Yagui, member of the National Assembly of Côte d’Ivoire and president of IAPP-Côte d’Ivoire, gave the introductory message in which exhorted his fellow deputies to appropriate the philosophy of peace of UPF’s founder, Dr. Sun Myung Moon. For three hours, the 25 parliamentarians received presentations on UPF’s Principles for Peace. Speakers emphasized the importance of the family in building peace and how parliamentarians should become advocates for the value of the values.
At the end of the presentations many questions were asked, which for the most part showed the interest of the deputies to know more, especially how they could participate in a World Peace Blessing ceremony. All were proud to receive their participation diploma, and those among them who were not yet Ambassadors for Peace will be distinguished at a later date. Every guest was invited to take part in UPF’s first Africa Summit in Dakar, Senegal, on January 17–19.
